— although they use any pronouns, please do not solely use she/her for Cerein.— please no underage characters or creators.— i don't like talking about Garlemald.— Cerein's status as the WoL has informed a lot of their character development but they can definitely interact with other ocs as a non-WoL!— i don't do formal RP but am fine with speaking in character impromptu if it's funny :3

story

WIP :) ask me for lore

hooks

Cerein was born in Gyr Abania to a small, nomadic Keeper tribe. When the Garlean invasion shattered their peace, young Cerein fled with their mother to Gridania. The next several years, filled with financial and emotional strife, took a toll on Cerein's mother and in turn her child. At 8 years of age, Cerein was abandoned by their mother. A middle-aged Elezen woman, traveling on business, discovered the young Miqo'te in the Gridanian markets. Bestowing Cerein with the name Forsyth, she brought them back to Ishgard to live as her child. Cerein at last had stable food and shelter, but there was more to their adoptive mother than meets the eye.Cerein's new mother was an unmarried lesser noble, intending to use Cerein's unique appearance and circumstance to raise the Forsyth name in the social sphere. Although Cerein wanted to please their mother, they performed poorly in matters of academics and etiquette. Between their mother's disdain and their peers' scorn, Cerein ultimately preferred to spend time alone or with children in the Brume than to pretend to be the princess everyone hoped for. Their attempts to run away from home would be thwarted, whether due to their mother's wit or their tendency to stand out.It wasn't until the Calamity hit that 18-year-old Cerein found the opportunity to abandon Ishgard and never look back. They fled Coerthas amidst the confusion of the unrelenting blizzard, sustaining several ice burns across their body but managing to reach Revenant's Toll with their life intact. they spent the next several years working odd jobs across Eorzea, finding particular success in bounty hunting. Although the earnings were meager, they fell in love with the freedom that this lifestyle offered. They discovered a talent for combat and could explore the fine (or perhaps not so fine) pleasures in life as they desired. At times they affiliated with various guilds or gangs, but never for long. It was easiest to be alone.Five years later, they made a more permanent move to Ul'dah, hoping to refine a singular discipline and take on more lucrative jobs. If that arrogant rogue had never caught wind of them, maybe they would have been able to live comfortably...maybe they wouldn't have to face their past.

about ishgard

"I hate that place. I can't stand it, but...there are certain people that make it worthwhile. Or were, in his case..."— Although they kept the Forsyth name, Cerein was determined to never return to Ishgard. Now that they're back, maybe you could show them it's not so bad...or join in their hate.

about work

"You have a job for me? A real job?"— Since reaching a certain level of recognition, it's been hard for Cerein to find work that isn't, well, stupid. Offering them a taste of that excitement they crave might go a long way towards earning their approval.

about scars

"Well, there's a lot of them...the burn scars are from the Calamity, this one's from a bounty gone wrong, and this one on my face...it's kinda hard to explain. ... What? The scars on my heart? Don't ask me about weird shite like that."— Cerein is an open book when it comes to their combat experience, but it will take more than a simple question to see into their heart.

about romance

"Wh-Why are you looking at me like that?"— In matters of love, it may take Cerein a while to get the hint...
---
---
"Your face, it's...there's something about it. No, not bad, I mean like—"
— ...and even longer to learn how to flirt properly...
